Last night we celebrated the launch of new research we supported with Demos in UK Parliament. MPs got the opportunity to meet Scouts, try out Scouting activities and learn all about how Scouts supports #employability and gives young people #SkillsForLife.

We're over the moon that Scouts has won Volunteer Team of the Year for our work supporting the public at the Lying in State of HM Queen Elizabeth II. We couldn't be prouder of the hundreds of volunteers who gave such selfless service to the nation.

When flown from the bow of a ship, in this case a Royal Navy warship, the Union Flag is known as the Union Jack. It represents the 3 kingdoms of the Union: England & Wales, Scotland (all 3 form the Kingdom of Great Britain) & Ireland though only Northern Ireland since 1921.

Three sheets to the wind today refers to being intoxicated however it has nautical origins and refers to loose lines (sheets) securing sails becoming loose and endangering the ship. Don’t try to over-correct though as you might find yourself sailing ‘Too close to the wind’

The Beatles released a new single today, Now and Then. We spotted this fab shot of their statues in Liverpool. Did you know that John Lennon and Paul McCartney were both Scouts? Read their Scouts story here: bit.ly/3QJyZBH

#OnThisDay 1912 Capt. R.F. Scott RN & 4 others (Oates, Edgar Evans, Bowers & Wilson) reached the South Pole. 4 weeks after Amundsen. The party died only 18 KM from One Ton Depot in March. Scott’s final diary entry is a message for us all. ‘For God’s sake, look after our people.’
