Giving the multi species crop another crack with this line of young stock again this year. With all the rain we've had this season it's established and grown better then last, also have alot more grass around then normal as well. Looking forward to tracking the calves progress

The young girls/OAD mob had pleanty on offer today in their coxfoot fescue chicory plantain clover new grass mix today so we shot down for a game of squash and they got an evening shift back across the road after a good hit out on the courts. Happy girl's this lot.

These girl's aren't silly, they know the best place to be at this time of the day. So good to have so many trees one farm, Shade is just one of the many benefits they bring!

My heart absolutely goes out to all those down country and still around the north who are coming to grips with the aftermath of the storm. Just a little snap shot from here, clearing trees and repairing fences time for us.

Given the rain we've had lately, there is a fair bit of water leaving the farm via drainage. It is really important to us that we do all we can to minimise the impact water leaving the farm has on the Mangakahia river and Kaipara harbor.

4th times a charm!......Hopefully Sowing a mix of chicory and perennial rye into the riverflats (the 4th lot of seed we've thrown at these flats in the last year) I'm direct drilling for minimal soil disturbance, soil structure is particularly important, we dont want to loose it

It felt great to get some plant's in the ground today on our own block of dirt. There's a few steeper faces here that are better off being in natives then trying to grow grass for dairy cows. Also erosion prone land so good way to stabilise it.

Today I had the privilege and pleasure of being one of the judges for #BFEA Northland Region , I'm now spending the evening on the tractor ripping maize paddocks reflecting on the contestants approach to their maize ground, so much food for thought. Great day full of learning!

This should do me for now, no more planting untill next season. Thats said, very productive couple of days, shifting fences and prepping the area. Really looking forward to watching this site develop.

Like a lot of farmers up here this year we really struggled with new grass establishment in the autumn but this paddock was one success, it's taken it's time but worth the wait.

Great to have the river flats back in the rotation, they've been out of action for about the last 18 months but now we've managed to get something established and growing some good feed!

That's a wrap for the 23/24 season for us, dried the last of the cows off this morning. Now to start preparing for calving in a couple of weeks time 🥛
