I visited Egmont Key State Park with staff in June. Egmont is known for its lighthouse and ruins, but the southern half of the island is for the birds. Beach nesting species like Laughing Gull and Least Terns love this spot because of the healthy dunes. #CleanBeachesWeek

DEP and our managing partners monitor temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH and more. We also conduct bird counts as a measure of aquatic preserve health. Good data = good decisions. #ScienceRules #DEPintheField FL Coastal Office (3/3)
