ヤマトアカヤスデとは明確に異なり、山林で発見され、群れることはありません。色模様は地域によりころころと変わります。春と秋に成体がみられます。

真増節変態で体長が伸び続けることに何のメリットがあるの？と前に聞かれて困ったことがあったんだけど、ヒラタヤスデの仲間はオスが托卵するときに体長がある方が有利に働くんじゃないか？

先月末に見つけたヨロイエダヒゲムシたち
危険を察知すると頭を隠してヒザラガイのようにペトっとなる。
最後のは木片を抱えてひっくり返っていたやつ。こう見ると「寸詰まりなエダヒゲムシに装甲付けたよ」という感じで、強化バージョンっていいなと思ってしまう。

クリスタルボディにピコピコ動く触角が特徴的なエダヒゲムシの仲間
冒頭のはまだ幼体で脚は3対でヨチヨチ歩く。大きくなって脚が増えたやつは機敏に動けるようになる。
多足類は種類によって成長過程で体節が増えたり増えなかったりだけど、こちらは半増節変態のグループ。

Here is a new species of the millipede Tribrachiorus Vohland, 1998 from Finca Merenberg, Huila, Colombia. This individual had tiny spheres stuck to its legs via stalks. The identity of these spheres is uncertain. Are they fungus? Any guesses? #MillipedeMonday

チョロチョロ動くコムカデの仲間たち
ムカデではなくコムカデというグループで全く危険ではない生き物。数珠状の長い触角をチロチロとさせながら愛嬌のある動きをする。
多足類全般、足のある長き者が第一脚を浮かせてる状態はとても良いとされる。

倒木の裏にいたアカヒラタヤスデ属の一種。
観察した際にも思いましたが、改めて写真で見ても美しいヤスデです。
