This years flower pollination fieldwork started out with a snow blizzard - but the flowers start beneath the snow! The strategy of early flowers is fascinatingly extreme! 🪰🐝

NEW STUDY🏵️: Rethinking pathways to the dioecy–polyploidy association: Genera with many dioecious species have fewer polyploids Polyploidy is a poorly understood trait in plants. In our study we propose a framework to understand the relationship between polyploidy and dioecy.

Interested in remote sensing and tundra vegetation change? If, then we have great opportunity for a PhD here in Gothenburg with a great supervisor team (Heather Reese, Robert Björk, and Alison Beamish).

Here is a PhD position in LPJ-GUESS group based in Lund University, working on plant-soil interactions in arctic tundra, supervised by me and Paul Miller. Please forward lu.varbi.com/en/what:job/jo… to people who are interested in it.

🚨Paper alert! Involving #Latnjajaure data and contribution from Mats P. Björkman and Robert Björk. Great led by Cassandra Elphinstone and great example that the International Tundra Experiment is not only monitoring and warming! Siri Holm Hjelmerud presented her MSc thesis in Earth Sciences today "Combining in situ methane flux measurements and multitemporal UAV LiDAR for a degrading palsa", finding a (likely) time lag between palsa degradation and increased methane emission. Well done Siri! APE@GU

"att det finns en konflikt mellan utveckling och miljö är en återkommande missuppfattning." 20 forskare, varav flera BECC:are, räds ökad polarisering mellan människa och natur efter en debattartikel i DN skriven av företrädare för Moderaterna: altinget.se/miljo/artikel/…

Fully packed for this year's field season. Looking forward to starting up the trace gas measurements in our exclosure experiment.

Arrived in Ritsem and started with a test run of all equiment to make sure it's ready to go tomorrow. MSc-students Maja and Malin fully occupied under supervision of Cole Brachmann.

Finally up running with our Vetenskapsrådet funded #ReindeerFlux project. Two long days and luckily I have a very dedicated postdoc and MSc-students measuring GHG and BVOCs, as well as flying drones. Great collaboration with Heather Reese and Prof. Riikka Rinnan.

A great week of flying lidar and multispec in the mountains around Ritsem as part of PI Robert Björk, Prof. Riikka Rinnan and my Vetenskapsrådet project on reindeer grazing. Great help from postdoc Cole Brachmann, PhD Alex Srolleru and 3 MSc students. 🏔😊
