2 and 3 are universal learning principles. But I don't think (1) is. There is immense value in learning things breadth wise, only that the payoff is not immediate.

The connection between different probability distributions is interesting --- 1. Binomial = Sums of bernoulli. 2. Negative binomial = Sums of geometric. 3. Poisson = Limiting case of binomial for infinite trials

Seems to me most papers are basically some grad student's step towards graduating. This seems to be reflected in that fact that the audience in any conference talk is zoned out. At best, their attention is on overleaf writing THEIR OWN papers.

Hot take - ADHD is not real. It's simply a personality trait that becomes salient in an industrial society that favors obedient, regimented workers. There are NUMEROUS advantages to having highly diverted attention. It is a source of creativity.

This. The only other place where I read of a similar notion is Thanu Padmanabhan's document called "The Answer". He mentions, in passing, the notion of an "educated illiterate". It's very similar to this tweet.

"Linear Algebra done right" by Sheldon Axler is a great book. It teaches a basic subject with mathematical rigor akin to advanced grad-level math. Good stuff.
