Neurodevelopmental conditions such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia ( DCD) and dyscalculia all frequently co- exist & in some ways overlap with ADHD - ‘Labels’ help us identify these natural variations in neurocognitive capacity -they are a lens not a deficit stereotype☂️

Working memory is limited. It overloads easily. Direct instruction is designed to manage cognitive load - it is clear, sequenced, and builds understanding step by step. Students can’t juggle too much at once. And they won’t learn much when left to swim in noise and activity.

I used to think leadership meant having all the answers. But the real win? Watching the team handle a tough delivery - calm, clear, and student-centered. No panic. No shortcuts. Just ownership. That’s what happens when you build culture, not control. #RadicallyStudentCentered™

The way women married to men end up as their ADHD husband’s prefrontal cortex, while also parenting ADHD kids, while realizing they’ve had ADHD all along, and that peri/menopause just made masking impossible, so now they’re hanging by a thread. I see it every day in my practice.

We do NOT all have ADHD. If we did, ALL of us would hyper-focus for 8 hours and forget to eat or pee + then binge eat or just eat 3 olives + then stay up until 3am, bec we want our own time + then sleep too late, + then dread the shower, AND it would be called “just human.” XO,

Let’s stop glorifying burnt-out, and dysregulated nervous systems, and instead start promoting balance and rest without calling people lazy. XO, Dr. Jen

At Kay Twelve, we helped a rural district refresh one classroom. No big budget, just a bold principal & flexible spaces. Engagement rose, teachers collaborated, families felt the energy. It became the model for change. Sometimes, transformation starts with one room.

Two of the most important needs in educational settings for pupils are safety & connection. SAFETY means a secure & well regulated nervous system. CONNECTION. Children have a profound need for connection. When they feel safe & connected, their body shifts into well-being mode.🌱🧠

The irony of ADHD: rejection sensitivity makes criticism unbearable, but shame makes praise almost harder to accept. Both hit the nervous system like ⚡️. XO, Dr. Jen

I can't stop thinking about this poem... The final two lines bear repeating: And make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself. How often have you been convinced that your joy, contentment, and fulfillment were on the other side of some

Underrated life lesson: You have to sacrifice short-term freedom in order to earn long-term freedom. Instant gratification will kill your dreams. Sacrifice is the cost of entry. Delayed gratification is the key to the life you want.

If a pupil is dysregulated, they don't need a bigger reaction, they need a steady presence. Their brain isn't ready for logic, redirection, or lessons. Our priority is helping them return to a state where they feel safe enough to process what they are experiencing. 🧠🌱
