I've made a fundraiser to support my friend May Eastern Chauvinist 🇵🇸🔻 who's been taking care of her mother in the hospital for the last month. Her mother is still unable to move much by herself and the doctors haven't been able to identify a cause yet. gofundme.com/f/mays-icu-med…

Map of Sweden with #Viking Age anthropomorphic figurines #MedievalMonday Often studied for what they symbolised, new research analyses how they were made and used, moving beyond categorisation to understand how the objects 'intra-acted' with the world. 🆓 doi.org/10.15184/aqy.2…

From Central Asia to a Viking-Age grave in Sweden. Copper-alloy flask with Arabic script. Found in a grave in Aska, Östergötland. It illustrates the Viking world's long-distance trade networks, and the routes by which dirham silver reached Scandinavia My 📷 Ref. Historiska museet

Last week, for the first time ever, we excavated a "trankokeri", a tryworks where herring oil was produced, on Lilla Askerön. It was built in 1797. We revealed two complex brick oven structures, one of them very intact, providing new insights into the Bohuslän herring fisheries.

Giant tsunamigenic rock avalanche (1 km²) that traveled ~16 km has just been dated to 10.9 ka in south Greenland! 😲 Impressive case and paper! 👏 Contemporary to the one we just dated in Ecrins massif! ⏱️ Such events are expected to be more frequent due to climate change! 🔥
