On #AfricaDay , I renew my pledge to stand with all Africans in their quest to lead their continent — and our world — into a peaceful and prosperous future for all.
Wars have rules that everyone must respect.
Protecting civilians is not negotiable.
They are #NotATarget .
As the world is seeing mass coral bleaching, I welcome the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea advisory opinion recognizing human-made greenhouse gases as a source of marine pollution & clarifying that countries must take all necessary measures to reduce, control & prevent it.
As United Nations Secretary-General, I have had the privilege of seeing the magnificent biological diversity of our planet up close.
But I have also seen how human activity is decimating it at alarming speed.
We must act urgently to put biodiversity on a path to recovery.
September's Summit of the Future is a key moment to drive forward the vision for a strengthened & renewed multilateralism, so that we can manage both the risks and opportunities ahead, for the good of all humanity.

As High Commissioner for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency I witnessed the enormous generosity of the Syrian people. I'm pained to see Syria now, with so much suffering.
I call on all Syrians to come together in a spirit of reconciliation, honouring their diversity & respecting the human rights of all
I see enormous potential in the Arab world.
Unity & solidarity can help the region find peace, make the most of its enormous potential & further contribute to the global good.

In speed & scale, the war in Gaza is the deadliest conflict in my time as Secretary-General – for civilians, aid workers, journalists & United Nations colleagues.
Yet the toll on civilians continues to escalate.
Any assault on Rafah is unacceptable. It would inflict another surge of
