A few days in Tonga offered me a front row seat to how people here have to endure the impacts of the climate crisis on a regular basis: From torrential rains & flash floods to rising sea levels forcing families to relocate. The world must take urgent #ClimateAction now.

During my visit to Tonga, I heard directly from civil society and local communities how climate change and sea level rise are upending their lives. I urge Pacific countries to continue raising their voices for #ClimateAction. If we save the Pacific, we save the world.

As I leave Timor-Leste, I want to thank all who have worked for the United Nations in the country over the past 25 years, during the various stages of the Organization's presence in the country. I also pay tribute to colleagues who lost their lives while serving the UN, all Timorese.

I will never forget my meeting last October with the parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and other hostage families. Today's tragic news is a devastating reminder of the need for the unconditional release of all hostages and an end to the nightmare of war in Gaza.
