We are suing to block the federal government takeover of DC police. By illegally declaring a takeover of MPD, the Administration is abusing its temporary, limited authority under the law. This is the gravest threat to Home Rule DC has ever faced, and we are fighting to stop it.

1/ This Admin wants to force the DC Police Department into immigration enforcement - a direct assault on DC's sanctuary city law and, more importantly, DC's values. This Commission says NO! We stand firmly against this unlawful action and support AG Brian Schwalb's lawsuit to block it.

2/ We passed this resolution earlier this year, affirming DC values, to say our neighbors are not pawns in this Admin's extreme, xenophobic, and un-American agenda. DC is a proud Sanctuary City, and #ColumbiaHeightsDC is a proud racially/ethnically diverse community. #HandsOffDC

I love the spirit of DC. Its people are passionate, we are involved, and we speak up loudly when we've been wronged.   Nothing and no one can convince us we don't deserve all the rights and privileges of Americans who happen to live across a state line.

Breaking: US District Court judge favored the DC gov't's arguments, forcing DOJ to revise and scale back AG Bondi's original order, which seized full operational control of MPD. Thank you, AG Brian Schwalb, for standing up to this Fed overreach and securing a win for DC Home Rule
