Friday night equivalent of 2001's planetary alignment shot... two Scottish Championship games and a haggis pizza.

Just tried to search for something in the BFI database. I will never learn.

Watched some more interesting stuff from the archives earlier, including a couple of turn of the century Scottish shorts - Sonny's Pride (1998) with the late, great Tom Watson, and Kings of the Wild Frontier (2000), co-written by novelist Ian Rankin.

Tonight's late night film choice is another Scottish film I've never seen. Apparently it's shite and is known purely for introducing the world to James McAvoy.

Back with the great Tom Watson again for my early evening viewing. Found a copy of "A Wholly Healthy Glasgow" (from Play on One) on the Internet Archive. Also starring much-missed Gerard Kelly and a fresh-faced young Paul Higgins (maybe his first role?). archive.org/details/the-pl…

Next up for tonight's viewing - because sometimes I'm just in the mood for a good old fashioned adventure movie from back in the days when half the world still seemed strange and unknown.

My first visit to the lovely wee Barony Theatre, Bo'ness tonight. "Blinded by the Light" by Sylvia Dow - written by a local, set locally, some local talent in the terrific cast, and rapturously received by the local audience. (I am not local but I, too, enjoyed it very much)

The big news on the Pope front for me is just how close the Vatican spokesperson is to being called Bruno Mattei. I would have killed for a pope named Diddybop.

As I've just realised this is the fourth consecutive year it's happened, I think I can now class "popping over to Ireland for a weekend and seeing a play with Zara Devlin in it" as an annual tradition. Anyway, Lovesong at the Gate is terrific, go and see it.
