Can facts ever change minds on immigration? I was skeptical—until working with @MichelLandgrave changed my own mind. Our new paper shows most Americans underestimate how difficult the US legal immigration process is. Sharing facts about policy makes people more pro-immigration.

5 postdoc rejections in a week. Job market anxiety is real because as an international student I only have one cycle with full visa rights. Expecting to land on a job in my first cycle as a history PhD candidate is certainly risky.

Are Democratic leaders making cities more dangerous than Republicans? Trump + others have repeatedly made claims like this. New paper Science Advances w/ Chris Warshaw @daniel_b_jones Matthew Harvey shows that, in short, the answer is no.

With respect, a correction: the argument is that (a) children of tribal members are not "subject to the jurisdiction" (excluded from 14th A birthright); (b) thus, children of undocumented parents are excluded. (a) correctly states the law. Natives have statutory citizenship only

How much Elon Musk makes from the government a day: $8 million. How much a senior on Social Security gets a day: $65 Guess which budget Musk and Trump want to cut?

honest thought: saying that DOGE would avoid conflict of interest means they wont touch the budget that funds SpaceX projects. Isn’t that conflict of interest itself?

How do external threats shape US polarization? To communicate China’s rise, Biden and Trump admins have used similar rhetoric. In PSRM Journal, Weifang Xu and I exploit this feature to test how external threats interact with party cues and polarization. 1/ cup.org/3XisrN3

No matter how you slice it, US police officers are safer on the job and paid way more than other countries' police The critical question isn't more police vs. less police. It's why are US police paid so much while doing such little police work? From my paper w/ Mickey & Ziblatt
