This ship has already sailed in education. Take a career break for children or find yourself on the wrong side of a settlement past 40 and you can forget it. Too expensive, have the audacity to prioritise things outside of work and less biddable.

I know it’s easier said than done due to the climate of fear in some schools but… If you see a colleague being bullied, please 🙏 have their corner. Pop in & see them at break. Sing their praises. Help evidence their hard work. Don’t turn a blind eye because it could be you

Wrote a while back about Heads who close their school libraries to ‘free up’ space for other things, destroying reading cultures. Exactly this 👉

"Narcissist amnesia" is when narcissists pretend to forget or they’ll deny past actions & behaviors, especially those that are harmful or negative. This selective memory leads to confusion & frustration. It’s a manipulation tactic used by them to escape accountability.

Dr James Shea I had to resign a leadership role to make the "support" plan stop - it was out & out bullying. I think the only way we stop it is to enable Heads to dismiss teachers without having to smash their careers to do so. So they can say you're a good teacher but a poor fit - & move on

Toxic individuals are very vindictive. If they believe you have stood up to them, you become enemy #1. There is no level they won't stoop to, in an effort to make you pay for what you have done to them. The amount of intense hatred for you is every lasting.

England’s schools are in crisis. Our money which should be spent on educating children and young people is being used for inflated salaries, perks for staff (private healthcare, cars, relocation packages…), buying off staff via NDAs, lawyers… Read and listen to Pam Jarvis

I do not recommend entering any female-dominated profession. It is guaranteed that the women with personality disorders are running it.

Thought for the day. For all the ‘improvement’ pressed upon teachers, retrieval, rosenshine, I do/we do, starters, do now’s, TLAC, scripted/standardised lessons… It’s not delivered any significant improvement. I say this after decades watching from within the classroom.
