2️⃣ The ambulance estate in England has a maintenance backlog of over £146 million, including lots of high-risk repairs. Poor facilities are increasing running costs, endangering staff, blocking progress to net zero, and impeding the shift to an electric ambulance fleet.

3️⃣ Trusts can't afford these repairs, with many already running deficits and being forced to make cuts. To make matters worse, not all of the sites are owned by the NHS themselves, meaning that trusts are reliant on lease agreements and the resulting constraints.

4️⃣ While the problem is very serious, some trusts are succeeding in improving their services. Positive relationships with systems are vital to this, ensuring that long-term, strategic service transformation can be achieved within the constraints of limited budgets.
