Who else’s dreams have specific genres? Last night was romcom with a twist of war drama. We were just meet-cuteing, goofing around and falling in love hilariously while everyone in the world got invaded!

Quietly thrilled to have performed at the APS Qld Finals, and so honoured to have won. It was a poem for my daughter, called ‘La Niña’. I am competing in the national final at the Sydney Opera House on Oct 23. If you’re in town, please come along. sydneyoperahouse.com/events/whats-o…

Absolutely thrilled to have an essay published in the upcoming Griffith Review. I’ll be reading an excerpt of my piece at the launch at @avidreader4101 - my absolute favourite bookstore in the world.

That feeling when finally, finally you have the motivation to sit down and ACTUALLY edit, but bedtime for the toddlers suddenly takes 2 hours, a packet of shredded cheese, seven beds and a dramatic retelling of the Nutcracker.

Wild little night performing poetry at the Australian Poetry Slam national final at the opera house. Shared stories, made friends, came second place - loved every minute of it. It’s so thrilling to have space carved out for poets who perform their own work. Thanks Word Travels!

Kind of wild how when you’re mid-shoot on a show reality can become very abrasive. One minute I’m in a gay bar in the 80s, in a 1900s corset, or fighting baddies, next minute I’m at swimming lessons on a Saturday morning with 300 screaming toddlers and corporate dads in rashies.

Just the process of writing this book was healing and joyful - to win this and to be published is entirely thrilling. I am so incredibly grateful, and desperate to share the world of ‘Immaculate’ with you.

Anna McGahan reflects on the ongoing damned if you do, damned if you don’t conversations that come with the complex timing of when to wean an infant. Anna is the winner of this year’s Vogel Literary Award. Dried milk is free to read here: bit.ly/3NqSVWW

Easily the most impactful novel I’ve read this year. Anna McGahan takes the chaos and trauma of Pentecostal life and metabolizes it into a story that is so loaded with beauty. I got it yesterday morning and was done by evening. I couldn’t put it down.
