In their 2021 Journal of Research in Science Teaching, Anita S. Tseng, Sade Bonilla, and Anna MacPherson examined “the efficacy of a structured reading support intervention for evaluation and critique on cultivating a critical awareness of flawed scientific claims in an online setting.”

RCT of an intervention to boost epistemic vigilance. We asked some students: “How might the author be wrong [about vaccines]?” Later, these students were more critical of what they read.

Powerful work with teachers at AMNH during the pandemic. We learned that principles of good teaching are largely similar across remote and in-person settings. Also, building technical support into each session is critical!
