Amen Anika Anand! We've been told for so long that news requires constant sacrifice. That was a lie. While there's no getting away from reporting sprints or tough deadlines, there's no reason they have to be painful.

I am *so* excited for the work that Lisa Heyamoto Chloe Kizer and @slynnmartinelli are going to lead on defining a maturity model for indie news businesses next year. We need a better way to talk about newsrooms' path to sustainability beyond age, # employees, $ raised, etc.

We're looking for someone to advise us on some strategic growth planning later this year. If you are interested or have had a great experience with someone who can work closely with me on this, please share with them! lionpublishers.com/lion-publisher…

Listening to Wendi C. Thomas be brilliant on the #KMF24 livestream and also hearing the call for a common operations/back end support reminds me of Harry Backlund trying to pilot it six years ago with smaller publications in Chicago. I do think that could scale and be so useful.
