The dichotomy between tonight’s execution of Ramirez— robbery gone bad in 2004–as compared to prosecutors’ decision not to seek death against a serial killer of 4 people illustrates injustice of death penalty. People are executed for crimes current DAs would not try for death.

John Ramirez is scheduled for execution in Texas on 10/5. He has faced three prior execution dates. This time, an assistant prosecutor requested a death warrant without the consent of the elected DA, Mark Gonzalez. Courts will not allow DA Gonzalez to withdraw the death warrant.
