Major re-vamp of ID study sections at CSR/NIH. After 2 years of overflowing virology panels, the expansion is refreshing (VIRA and VIRB are basically becoming 3 study sections- MCV, VPI, and VDT). Changes start with spring review panels (fall submissions). public.csr.nih.gov/StudySections/…

To my fellow PIs: When we see inappropriate behavior toward a student/trainee/colleague can we all pledge to speak up in the moment and not say it quietly after the fact. The behavior we accept creates a tone for our field that can be unwelcoming. We can help fix that together.

Exciting opportunity for anyone interested in virus evolution! Cannot recommend this lab enough—environment (PI, colleagues in the lab/other labs in Emory M&I/Biology), subject matter, and Atlanta are hard to beat.

Our paper is out!🎉Describing novel interactions that result from coinfection with Flu and RSV. We found beautiful hybrid virions containing genomes and structural proteins from both viruses, with very cool functional consequences (1/2) nature.com/articles/s4156…
