A wave of shock and disbelief tonight as the first round of the 🇷🇴Romanian presidential elections concludes. Projections indicate that two far-right candidates are poised to secure over 30% of the vote collectively.

🇷🇴 RO elections: a clear alignment between far-right supply and demand. The outcome is long overdue. The country was always a carismatic candidate away from an overt ultra-nationalist turn. Independent Calin Georgescu is just what the Kremlin ordered.

Even if 🇷🇺 didn’t manage to boost a pro-Kremlin man to high office (so far!), it won by sowing distrust & discontent with democracy. That RO got here is the result of serious oversight.
