I explain today why the Single market is broken: mutual recognition is not what we think it is; harmonisation actually fragments, and the Commission is not doing its core job. If you only ever read one post, let it be this one siliconcontinent.com/p/the-myth-of-…

UPDATE SPAIN BLACKOUT: The Spanish gov has published the most detailed timeline yet of the April 28th blackout of the Iberian Peninsula Lots of emphasis on "over voltage" and "frequency loss" Only 27 seconds elapsed from the first loss of generation to the blackout. My notes:

Chinese EV maker BYD, the main competitor to Elon Musk's Tesla, will move its European headquarters to Hungary, Viktor Orbán announced. The firm is already in the process of constructing its first gigafactory in the country.

The IRA got immunity. And now, under Starmer, they're set for big cash payouts. Our veterans risked their lives stopping IRA terrorist attacks. But Starmer’s opened the door to mass prosecutions of them. We must stop this sick betrayal.

The real point behind this is the Church of England used to be really good at employing autists. Probably the only employer that is less inclusive now than 100yrs ago.

Baffling how much of Britain’s conversation about the bin strikes entirely sidesteps their actual cause—and all-but-misleads the public about what’s going on. (Piece of mine on this ⬇️)

Quite a lot of snarky replies to this along the lines of "Er OK my dude, having a normal one, are you saying that having to walk through a metal detector at a station makes your life worse??!!?" To which the answer is, obviously yes. Slightly worse, but definitely worse.

No. The basic reproduction of society isn’t a choice. Future citizens and workers will care for you, maintain society, and their taxes will pay for your pension. For those who want to have more kids: why should they internalise all the costs while you get those benefits?

Chosen Company is shutting down operations and moving towards separation from the Ukrainian military. Official statement will be released once I’m off contract and can fully speak freely without violating Ukrainian military law/statutes. It’s been a good 39 month run.

BBC Wales lets anyone wander into the offices at half term and write a story about themselves. This is a subprime commercial lender (albeit with a 'charitable purpose') touting its products as the main item on our national broadcaster for the morning... bbc.com/news/articles/…

The implosion of Leicester's clothing industry can be largely explained by this startling chart👇 Over 58% of fashion brands (by turnover) now have an explicit policy of NOT sourcing any clothes from the UK. Only 5% of brands have not been deterred by the recent scandals

If everyone opts out of the high productivity region that does all the fiscal transfers to the others because it is too expensive this is actually substantial problem for the national economy.
