Today in 1905, Johnny Miles was born. He began working as a coal miner at the age of 11. He worked nights & attended school during the day. A skilled runner, he won Bronze at the 1930 British Empire Games. He also won the Boston Marathon in 1926 and 1929. He died in 2003.
