Yes amazing. But why are we not having the conversation about AI’s place? Perhaps we need to see it’s capabilities first, but we should keep our heads. Bandwagons serve only the band.

Why are we prioritising GenAI to create more Bread and Circuses instead of solving humanity’s intractable problems? We’re playing to the lowest common denominator methinks.

Assessing students on extroverted neurotypical metrics such as ‘maintains good eye contact’, ‘speech well-modulated’, etc is something to avoid. If no training on oral presentation skills is offered then perhaps it should not be assessed.

The University of Bristol -v- Dr Robert Abrahart has ramifications for this idea that we can replace written assessment with increased in-person and oral assessment to make AI proof. Anyone working in this area should read this judgement (172-200 specifically).
