This morning I held a constructive engagement with the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber to discuss challenges and opportunities facing industry in the City. The role that business plays in overcoming some of our country’s most pressing challenges is inspiring.

The Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Andrew Whitfield, MP committed that the dtic will increase its efforts in promoting exports in order to boost the country’s economic growth. The Deputy Minister attended Eastern Cape Export Symposium in East London.

This is a long over due intervention which should be welcomed. Getting Transnet back on track is critical to the success of our economy.

As we head into Day 2 of this strategic planning session the focus remains discussing new ways to deliver rapid , inclusive economic growth and job creation. We dare not fail!
