Oxfam joins the display of mindless illiteracy with which leftist activists discuss impact of the British Raj. In a report called “Takers not Makers”, they claim that imperialist Britain “extracted” 85 tr $ from India, adding for drama, “enough to carpet London with 50£ notes”.

This is excellent. I haven’t felt more optimistic about this govt than I do today. Nuclear is the only way to get energy prices down - it could be cheaper than coal if we regulated it properly. But that means making it fast and easy to build. I now think this govt might do it.

Mick Jagger has signed a petition opposing a plan that would provide affordable homes for at least 190 people because it would spoil his view from the other side of the river We can't afford a system that lets anything from rockstars to rare spiders block new development

Was speaking with a reporter today who relayed a dairy farmer’s assertion that supply management should remain unchanged. My response? "How does one wean a long-term drug addict off their dependency?"

Honoured and grateful to have been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of my contributions abroad that bring credit to Canada. This acknowledgment means a great deal, and truly appreciate the support and recognition. Will be receiving the medal April 9.

In their new book "Abundance" Derek Thompson and Ezra Klein have written a timely, compelling manifesto for progressives who want to build a bright future. It is *the book* laying out the case for Up-Left politics (link below).

Scholars are or ought to be theorists. For all other academic tasks, AI can do it. Per argues that we should let it. Some very compelling thoughts here. Our field seems to be at a precipice of disruption. We will need to do science differently. To train our PhD students

I worked at an institution that went through a period of financial exigency. Several tenured and tenure-track faculty lost their jobs, as did many contingent faculty and administrative staff. It was awful. At a town hall meeting, our president (a real bonehead) was asked why no
