The Nationals are .500. They’ve swept the Marlins down to an MLB-worst 6-24. And they’ve gotten productivity across the roster.

Sunday was rollicking. Tonight was almost nondescript in its completeness. That’s progress all the same:

I’m excited to announce that I’m joining Mercury News as a sports reporter. The Merc gave me a shot as a freelance reporter several years back, and now, I’ll be back to telling stories around the Bay Area.

Final: Nationals 7, Marlins 2

With a sweep, the Nats win four games in a row for just the second time since the start of 2022. With a win tomorrow, they’d move over .500 for the first time since July 1, 2021.

Almost everyone on the roster contributed this series.

Updates from Dave Martinez today:

- Victor Robles is headed to Class AAA Rochester for his rehab assignment. He’ll start tomorrow, play some games at DH, others in the field.
- Cade Cavalli threw “really well” in his live today. Fastball averaged 96 mph and topped out at 98.

From Kyle W’s story: “It’s just proof of how such a different player I am now,” Fedde said of his development. “Looking back a couple of years ago, if you told me I was striking out close to double digits and going deep in games, I would probably chuckle a little.”

Erick Fedde didn’t know if the changes he implemented overseas would play it he majors.

Sunday’s strong outing proves that the right-hander can have success in the majors.

“Big-time, gutsy performance by Fedde,” manager Pedro Grifol said.

This Nationals resurgence has been about the young guys. Abrams, Young and Garcia. Gore, Irvin and Parker.

Since February, though, those guys have said you don’t take “the leap” without vets. Enter Nick Senzel — and a comeback to remember:

Jesse Winker shared a few sentences about his grand slam because he had to. When someone asked about his teammates, he seemed like he wanted to talk forever.

On an 11-4 Nats win — and the Jesse Winker renaissance:

Final: Nationals 11, Marlins 4

Catalyzed by Jesse Winker's grand slam, the Nationals hit for power and throttled Miami. Nick Senzel and Keibert Ruiz homered, too. And another good day for Mitchell Parker, who worked himself out of a few jams.

The Nationals have promoted INF Phillip Glasser from Low-A Fredericksburg to High-A Wilmington.

The 24-year-old was a 10th round pick in ‘23 and began ‘24 hitting .381 with two homers and a 1.031 OPS in 15 games. He also hit over .300 in the minors last year.

Dave Martinez often says the Nats have to excel in the three constants — pitching, defending and running the bases — to win.

He also says the runs will come. They haven’t yet, but the constants were impressive, and enough, against the Marlins:

The offense did just enough, as Joey Meneses’ bat stayed hot and CJ Abrams’ speed made Miami pay.

Trevor Williams, Derek Law, Hunter Harvey and Kyle Finnegan were all terrific.

Nats injury updates:

- Victor Robles sprinted at about 90% yesterday. Hopes to begin his rehab assignment by the end of this upcoming week.
- Nick Senzel is feeling better and will be available to come off of the bench today.
- Josiah Gray threw at 90 feet yesterday.

Cade Cavalli is here in Miami, we’ll be speaking with him shortly. He’s been rehabbing in West Palm and is throwing a bullpen here today.
