Hello friends, I’m so delighted to greet you as the new President of the Minneapolis City Council. Your overwhelming support during this last term and throughout the campaign season is very much appreciated and is what has led us here.

These past few weeks have been overwhelmingly busy, but in a positive way as I’ve worked with the Mayor and my new colleagues to address affordable housing, public safety and develop a new government structure.

Much of this progressive work is a continuation from the leadership and work from our previous council with which we hope to build on. I’m excited to continue to work on the 38th street thrive plan to revitalize the 38th street cultural corridor.

We must also continue our undoing racism work through the declaration of racism as a public health crisis which also means continuing to address the racial inequities in our city through the creation of a truth and reconciliation commission.

We know that the global pandemic is still impacting all aspects of our lives, however, we also know that we are strong, we are resilient and we will build back our communities. I look forward to continuing the fight together and thank you all for your support.
