I think I'm too old for these (thank goodness) but I hear they exist. Textationships. Relationships that don't get past texting. Minimal investment & easy way out. The risk however, is that friendships & marriages aren't immune & can be reduced to it too. Gotta put in the work.

A lot of people say you shouldn’t give advice, so I apologize in advance for sharing mine. Discover what brings you joy… and build your life around it.

Went to take a spoonful of the blueberry yoghurt I bought yesterday and had to get over the fact that it was the wrong one. UNSTIRRED. 😡 Not expecting anyone outside the ADHD world to “get” it. (And yes, I know I should be grateful to have food to eat. I am).

"It's not that they cannot learn the task. It's just that they have a different way of learning it. For us that's most interesting," Dr. Deirdre McCarthy on ADHD mice in Barnes Maze test of deficiencies in learning & working memory. Why can't everyone see it as most interesting?

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Carl R. Rogers. And this is why I consider everyone a homebuilder. Because the first home we build is ourselves.

Each morning I remind my son to dress for the weather (especially when -10°). And every day I find another coat/hat/umbrella left behind. I smile bc a) he’s me reincarnated 2) I can pick my battles & 3) soon I’ll have a full wardrobe in my back seat & we can take a road trip.

Me, this morning. Okay, me several mornings. Feeling super productive, clearing emails and replying to texts as I wait for the elevator… only to realize 5 minutes later (which was probably really 10) that I never even pressed the button.

I just experienced the greatest payoff of using twitter to practice my "less is more" communication skills. I was answering questions in a text box limited to <300 characters on a referral form for a medical specialist I'm hoping my 13 yr old son can get in to. Fingers crossed.

It’s interesting that we don’t say “sister-ing” or “daughter-ing” or “aunt-ing” or “friend-ing” or “wife-ing,” and yet “parenting” rolls off our tongues effortlessly. It’s not something we DO. It’s something we ARE.

People drive drunk 80 x before they're caught. By 2026 every car made in the U.S. will have anti-impaired driving technology. Those arguing against it clearly haven't been affected by it. Yet. But 2 out of 3 people are impacted in their lifetime. Odds are you'll be one of them.

No wonder Mom = anxious. "Statistically speaking, a child is far more likely to be killed in a car on the way to a store than waiting in one that is parked. But we have decided such reasoning is beside the point. When it comes to kids’ safety, feelings are facts." - Kim Brooks

NYC placed 900 ElliQ humanoid robots in the homes of low income seniors as an experiment to reduce loneliness. I don’t know about you, but I’m still resetting my Mom’s clock that’s flashing 12:00 after a power failure. I’m expecting a bit of a steep learning curve here :)

I tried a new diet & I’m shedding some serious weight, You can too. You don’t even need a scale. Lose the heaviness of all the extra layers you’ve carried over the years from trying to be something you’re not. Just be you. You’ll see how much lighter you feel.

It’s hard to explain. But as a woman, you know you’ve reached another level of maturity when you can honestly answer the hairdresser after he asks and say, “No, I’m not happy.”

I've heard that our emotions are like highlighters for our brain that tell us something's important. I'm guessing I don't have the 3 or 5 pack. No, of course not. That would have made things a little simpler.

I just dropped off my 13 year old son at school. The girl who went in a few seconds before him waited and held the door open for him. Did you know that chivalry works both ways? It’s NOT attached to a gender.
