I am thrilled to announce I have signed a contract with Cambridge University Press - History to publish my first book! It explores how the US Army influenced in the politics of foreign policy and grand strategy during World War II! I can't wait to see it in print!

In New York Times Opinion I argue that if Kamala Harris wins she should deliver a fresh foreign policy that breaks from Biden’s “indispensable nation” orthodoxy and strips Trump’s “America First” appeal of its allure. Call it America first, but for real. Thread and paywall-free link:

Very sad to learn of the passing of Curtis Stokes, a legendary James Madison professor and brilliant scholar of radical thought who shaped my early academic career. jmc.msu.edu/news/memoriam-………?

Congratulations to Dr Patrick McSweeney , who just defended his dissertation, “The Kids' Table at the Party: Age-Dynamics in the Democratic Party.” With committee members Jamil Scott , Jonathan Ladd and Hans Noel

Now out in International Affairs: my review of Michael P.M. Finch's "Making Makers," which traces the construction of the strategic canon across three generations of "Makers of Modern Strategy" and illuminates how civilian scholars shaped the 20th cent study of war. 📚 academic.oup.com/ia/article-abs…

This is one of my favorite No Laying Up projects I've ever worked on. For a week, Neil Schuster and I roamed the grounds of Augusta National with mics, capturing the sounds of the Masters, trying to tell the story of the tournament, pulling together a narrative podcast in real time.

Very excited to be presenting my research on "Friedrich Meinecke's Machiavelli" at the 2025 International Machiavelli Society Conference in Paris this December! THE INTERNATIONAL MACHIAVELLI SOCIETY

My article on Jean Calvin's 1532 Seneca Commentary is now published at History of European Ideas. If you're interested in #Calvin's political thought or the problem of counsel, take a look. Link below, and DM me if you don't have access but would like to read it. doi.org/10.1080/019165…
