#genomics and ancient DNA have had a profound effect on the study of crop domestication. Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies and other breakthroughs in the biological sciences field are prompting an even greater potential for #History and #Biology crosstalk.

From which points of view the #plants can be studied? It depends on the time in history, on the context, on the discipline. Once very connected, #botany and #agriculture have developed different paths throughout the past centuries on the study of plants.

I'm very happy that the first papers of the Issue on "Best Practices in Plant #Cytometry" are published. It has been a great journey to coordinate this with David Galbraith. We dedicate it to Jan Suda, a prominent name in Plant Cytometry that left us too soon. He would be proud.

How scientists are currently approaching #taxonomy? It’s essential to understand, document & describe #biodiversity. Besides, which role historical collections can play in these studies? The Xanthium project aims to contribute to answering it, and ReSEED is one of the partners.
