Would you give myeloma therapy for MGUS? Probably yes for some cases, after you read this case report in this week's NEJM. The monoclone was linked to anti-PF4 activity with major thrombotic events. Both monoclone and anti-PF4 activity were eliminated post DVd therapy. Remember

.NEJM recently published a study on #myeloma therapy for monoclonal gammopathy of thrombotic significance. Co-authored by #StanDOM's Giselle Salmasi, the research shows how treating a specific antibody can stop severe #BloodClots. bit.ly/4dBx8HT

A man with monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance and thrombosis was found to have a previously undetected pathogenic monoclonal antibody that activated platelets in a PF4-dependent manner. Read the full correspondence: nej.md/3Zc3pkb

The new thrombophilia, MGTS just got more interesting, and complicated! Here is a new paper in NEJM from our group on the challenges of recognizing this disorder: nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… Couple of other recent papers on MGTS: nejm.org/doi/abs/10.105… ashpublications.org/blood/article/…

Great article in CAP TODAY MAGAZINE on anti-PF4 disorders!! MGTS (monoclonal gammopathy of thrombotic significance) with its various “flavors”, “HIT-like”, “VITT-like” & “non-HIT/VITT-like”, is going to be an important entity in the thrombophilia field!! captodayonline.com/spectrum-of-an…
