I was greeted by two bengal cats at our balcony this am, moaning, meowing with the joy of having had a night full of wandering & roaming in the neighbourhood. The 3 degrees cold crippled my palm and I pet the creatures who seemed absolutely undaunted, floating in the mist.

I moved to London 23 years ago. My rent was £600 (which I was bowled over by at the time). A Zone 4 pass was £100 a month (also left me shaking). And book publishing salaries were £25-£30k… they’re now. The same. The exact same.
