The movie was produced for about $60,000 independently. Became a surprising hit on the indie circuit and is considered one of the standouts of the 1980’s indie movie boom. #CultShelf

The budget was used practically, hiring summer stock players Sayles had worked with, filming at a ski lodge during the off season and also using said lodge for housing for the actors. #CultShelf
