Had a great day of field work last week at Gorse Hill LNR in Ormskirk for the Management Planning module as part of my masters degree. My initial thought is to expand the already existing pocket Reed bed to improve landscape connectivity for species such as Bitterns!

Accompanied the MSc Conservation Management students from Edge Hill University on a field trip to Bell Sykes farm today. The farm is the site of many SSSI wildflower hay meadows, which are used to restore degraded grasslands within the Forest of Bowland.

Saw some beautiful early purple orchids at Jack Scout in Silverdale today, just lovely!

4 years ago today beavers were released at Woodland Valley. Since then have built 8 dams , turned 1 stream into 4, cut peak flow by half, produced habitat galore, seen trout increase in size 8 fold, hosted 8 new birds and a whole bunch of other stuff. Get on with it Defra UK

I am so pleased to have completed my MSc in Conservation Management! Now to wait for the results😊 in the mean time I’ll be keeping busy in my new role as an Agri-environment Advisor at Natural England!🌱

It’s official! I will be graduating in a few weeks time with a Distinction in MSc Conservation Management from Edge Hill University! I’m so proud at how far I have come. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Edge Hill and will miss it dearly. I’m so glad my hard work has paid off!🥳
