Huck, fellow introvert, age 9, has already perfected the event departure method of our people: “I party for a little while, and then I stop.”

Meanwhile, David, extrovert, age 12, is at a three-hour middle school event where he has taken DJ lessons and will shut the place down. Also, he’s the first person to school each morning so he can chat up the staff. Just typing this is exhausting.

Happening now Kai Ryssdal: my kids explaining to me (badly) what Doge is. It’s a meme! It’s a dog with pointy ears! It’s a game with lots of Doges! “So what do you do with Doges?” Nothing they’re not real.

Pretty sure Science Friday just set a new world record for the number of times “butt” was said in one radio segment. Where are the people who keep track of this stuff?

I hit “back” 4 times on Brené Brown podcast episode with James Clear to hear her say this on repeat. “I was not raised to respect consistency. I was raised to revere intensity.” There it is. That’s the problem.

The closest I’ve ever come to winning a Pulitzer - the Panda Pulitzer! 2005. Though not actually named, I am still honored by this distinction received from The Washington Post during days of yore while working for The Washington Times. Filed under: things I find while tidying my office.

Churches: stop shaming journalists for reporting facts. Stop using our work in your sermons as demonstrations of negativity in the world. Stop.

Maybe part of the reason journalists tend to be unchurched is every time they walk into a church they are targeted as an example of evil in the world. “Oh I didn’t mean you.” Actually, you did. But you forgot “the media” is a group of humans.

Related to my recent call for churches to stop vilifying journalists, this excellent piece from Jon Ward christianitytoday.com/ct/2022/may-we…
