Visited Parramatta light rail today. A very attractive line that is nestled into its surrounds in the most delightful way. Love the proximity to so many homes, the shopfronts and outdoor dining right on the line, the picturesque river crossings.

Very sad for me to see medical professionals prejudiced against public transport, which is a safe, cheap, and healthy way to get around. Many seem to be blinded by their own elite preferences. Sadly blocked by the good doctor for asking him to verify his claim!

The biggest problem with cars is that they mean each new neighbor directly takes away from your quality of life, and a lot of very nasty politics directly follow once you internalize that

Sydney metro, Melbourne metro and Elizabeth Line all show what civic pride looks like, this doesn’t happen with roads. Let’s keep building more of them.

Looking good! But it would really be perfect with a large, ugly, privately-owned enclosure in the middle of the thoroughfare

Garema Place renewal works looking lovely. The area was being very well utilised today, even in 34 degree weather! More to come - this is a great start.

I have an opinion piece in this weekend's Canberra Times saying that we must not waste precious land and money allocated for Cbr's new aquatic centre on excessive car parking. Let's invest in the centre itself and great public & active transport access. canberratimes.com.au/story/9125754/…

Remember, if you collect your public input at physical meetings during the day, you will hear from retired people and people who are being paid by others to be there. Is that really a good sample of the public?

UK study finds many older people can’t walk fast enough to cross pedestrian crossings within the time allowed. ‘Cities simply aren’t designed for older people and others with restricted mobility, and this can have catastrophic consequences.’ theconversation.com/cities-arent-b…

My Christmas wish is to never again hear an ACT MLA or public servant tell me "well Canberrans just love their cars" and act like there's nothing to be done about things like illegal parking, unsafe driving, and low public transport mode share 🎄🎁🙏

This woman, approaching the end of her life, annihilated an entire young family with their whole lives ahead of them. She faces NO legal consequences. Age related impairment doesn’t happen in a day. She chose to keep driving long after it was safe. This was a premeditated choice.

NYT reports that some older adults are moving to NYC instead of retiring in Florida? Of course. Walkability, transit, culture, parks, and the freedom of not needing a car make it possible to stay active, connected, and engaged at any age. nytimes.com/2026/03/07/nyr…

Meanwhile, the aging person whose daughter took away her license “basically said that her life would not be worth living if she couldn’t drive.” I bet not in NYC. You shouldn’t have to own a car to fully participate in life. That is the opposite of freedom nytimes.com/2026/02/28/mag…
