For too many Gambians, the concept of Govt. or public service is that it’s a place to EAT, not serve. From the judiciary, legislature and executive, everyone is busy trying to eat and feed their friends or family. Govt. exists to serve those in government first, and foremost!

The argument that we should support the NPP/APRC authoritarian treaty being forced on the people as a draft constitution because it is supposedly better than the 1997 Yaya Jammeh Constitution is nothing short of acquiescing to an impending authoritarian state. We don’t learn!

If the constitution is truly for and about the people, no one should insist on anything that benefits them as an individual. But for Barrow and friends, the constitution is about legitimizing self-perpetuation, strengthening their chokehold on the people and accumulating wealth!

When a society inoculates itself from SHAME, lying, breaking promises, duplicity, inconsistency, greed, political prostitution and corruption thrive while principles, values, and ethics all die a slow and painful death. Look at Gambia today and you will understand what I mean.

I don’t know what debt distress means in real terms but I do know for a fact that no nation has ever met its full potential by relying on begging and borrowing! The kakistocrats of The Gambia are intent on this impossibility thinking that borrowing will deliver them to Elysium!

You can say that again!!! The Barrow gang is not remotely interested in compromising on what really matters to them: Self-perpetuation and Yaya Jammeh like control of the people. We all know this but let’s pretend everyone is arriving with good intentions! The joke is on us!

You will struggle to convince me that you truly stand against corruption when you are also advocating for the passage of the APRC/NPP authoritarian treaty! But I understand that like government service, many in civil society organizations are also just there to hustle and eat!

Gambia should stay with Jammeh’s 1997 Constitution because that Constitution unmasks the facade of democracy and transition we delude ourselves with! At worst, Gambia is a police state and at best, it’s an authoritarian state! At least the 97 constitution reflects this reality!

Am I the only one confounded by the UDP lawsuits and the judgement that they didn’t provide any evidence? I mean how can a lawsuit go all the way to the supreme court when it’s not backed by applicable evidence? Just when I thought I had a clue on our jurisprudence, then this!

Tombong Jatta, Barrow’s handpicked leader in parliament, is telling people in Foni to vote for Barrow because he alone can bring Jammeh back to The Gambia. He insinuated that Barrow wants to bring Jammeh back but that he alone cannot decide that. The dishonesty will unravel soon!

Why are people surprised that Gambia Government issued over 3000 diplomatic passports? I mean is there any privilege we get that we don’t abuse or take advantage of? It’s our way! And who honestly thinks the spineless Mamadou Tangara would resist such abuse!

Substitute “Kenya” for “Gambia” and you’ll be right at home! Even I tell people our idea of a government is a fraud, some think I’m crazy! It’s only the African who is yet to get that no one serving you should live a markedly better life than you, the one they are serving!

African Governments receive charity and still have enough shame left to pose for pictures with the charity givers! That they’re being used to by the charity givers to project power (through diplomacy) or send a message escapes these African leaders who look so happy in the photos

To the mindless Gambians calling your Gambia a representative democracy, how does it feel to see an unelected leader of your parliament kicking out an elected leader? That Gambia is a representative democracy is the first delusion people need to cure themselves from!

You’d have a difficult time convincing me that you stand against govt wastage when you have no issues partaking in some of that wastage by attending frivolous celebrations all in the name of “the nation.” Those you accuse of wastage also claim to be doing it for “the nation.”

You’d often hear people say things like “yes, there were irregularities but they do not matter in a way that they significantly change the outcome of the elections.” You’d think they can measure the impact of civil servants campaigning while also using government resources!

To the UDP: It’s you and a few conscientious CSOs that many of us are counting on to not compromise on Barrow’s desire to be an a legal authoritarian through the constitution Dawda Jallow commissioned to appease him! Don’t betray our hopes!

Reducing the manufactured constitutional crisis in the Gambia to the UDP and NPP is not only disingenuous, it’s reducing oneself to a spectator in matters of the nation! It’s as if you’re saying those of us who do not belong to either party do not matter! Lazy thinking!
