With RCN strike dates confirmed for December the most common question I'm being asked is: How can I support striking nurses? Here are 5 practical ways you can help the cause A (smallish) thread 🧵

Tomorrow is the first of the NHS workers strikes. Remember: - We are humans just like you. - We can’t provide great care when we are losing staff at alarming rates. - Patients are NOT being abandoned. - Strikes could have been avoided if the Government chose to engage.

This is absolutely devastating - sadly it’s the reality for many people in this country this year. Fortunately LBC was able to get this man the help he desperately needed but what about those who don’t? It shouldn’t take calling in to be saved. The system is a failure.

Steve Barclay has 49K followers. Why is his voice of incompetence/lies louder than mine? It’ll be 2 years next month since I started raising awareness on nursing pay and the decimation of our NHS. Please RT and follow ♻️ to build our community. #NHS #Nursing #FollowbackFriday

Only 4 more shifts at my current placement until I start my final one! These 4 years have gone so quickly. Can’t believe this time next year I will be fully qualified, pin and all! 😭

Sadly need to move in April at the end of my tenancy; no longer pass affordability test for 1 bedroom places but a room in a 6 bed HMO is £500+ 😵‍💫 Fortunately I have parents I can temporarily stay with - but what about those not so lucky?!?

Rishi Sunak visited today - he didn’t step foot on a single acute ward. Clearly there just for the photo op to make it seem like he cares 🙄

People aren't dying because nurses are striking Nurses are striking because people are dying The Government is to blame. If you agree and you support the nurses reply with a 💙. #FairPayForNursing

Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA! Have been super busy with work, extra bank shifts and have the added stress of moving on top! 😫 Hoping things start easing up soon as I really do miss you all!

Devastating that it has come to this. Remember all, these Strikes dont need to happen if the Government cared enough to listen and try find resolve. Strikes happen when met with silence and dismissal of evident issues.

Has it really been 2 years since I last logged into this account? 🫣 Some things change yet still a lot stays the same: - I’m no longer a AMHN; but a Mental health nursing practitioner! - Still fighting that same fight I joined you with back then. It’s good to be back! 🫶🏻

I was just told by our final year student nurse that she secured a job for when she qualifies; however it’s 47miles (1hour 10ish) travel as nothing available closer to home. 2hr 20 / 94miles daily to work on the wards. Am I the only one that finds that shocking? 😳

#medtwitter Please ignore Wes and vote YES in the ballot. Even if other things concern you more than pay (training numbers, MAPs etc) a rejected ballot will only incentivise the govt to ignore all the other issue + we will get nowhere..

So you hear 3.6% pay award but what does that work out as per hour? Below is the difference per band & progression step before tax: B3 - 44p / 47p B4 - 49p / 54p B5 - 55p / 60p / 67p B6 - 68p / 73p / 83p Is it decent or cover your bill increases? Only you can answer that…
