Tonight’s entry in my Best New Cocktail to Add to My Recipe Box contest (ongoing, all year) is the Roadhouse Gin Shake (left). It didn’t exactly resemble the picture (right) on the website for Musgrave Rose Pink Gin from Cape Town. Color’s not far off, though, is it? #cocktails

In searching for cocktails suitable for my new Nick and Nora glasses from Pappy Van Winkle, I’ve found a winner: Hair of the Dog cocktail (whisky, honey syrup, cream). The Nick and Nora, popularized by the 1934 classic movie The Thin Man, is intended to be for “up” drinks, no ice.

Thrilled that the rains of #hurricaneian have mostly missed #asheville, I’m starting the weekend with a Bijou, as suggested by liquor.com/recipes/bijou/ But I’m certainly sending good thoughts to those in Florida (I lived there for 5 1/2 years!) and SC hurt by the storm. #cocktails

It wasn’t until after we opened the 2018 Hollister Hill Vineyard Malbec from ⁦Mayo Family Winery⁩ that ⁦Jennifer Forsyth⁩ realized that she had lost her sense of smell after a recent bout with #covid. She can taste it, tho! Thank goodness, because we have more on order!

We wrap up a fun, family-filled day by opening a Poizin Zinfandel from ⁦Armida Winery⁩ in ⁦@GoHealdsburg⁩ Calif. Words uttered after the first sips included cherry, rich, walnutty and leather. Oh, and excellent. Now, for the T-Day leftovers! ⁦⁦Jennifer Forsyth⁩

Sorting our basement, we found a bottle of ChocoVine from Holland, chocolate & red wine in one bottle. It’s pretty good! A guest whose identity is lost to time brought this to us years ago, and now, with our apology for losing track of it, we want to know who you are. Was it you?

Some of the drinks, both alcoholic and otherwise, in Greece last month. When is the last time you had a green cocktail?

In retirement you can do this kind of thing. After a salad and calamari lunch, my dessert ⁦Bonefish Grill⁩ in Orlando was key lime cake and ⁦solernoliqueur⁩ Blood Orange. The cake was better.

No cocktail I make tastes as different from time to time as The Martinez. I don’t know why, but it does. All good, though. Recipe in photo.

At Bradley’s Corner Cafe, Topeka, the pie flavors were coming off the board quickly as we wrapped up a delicious lunch with slices of our choice. We got our orders in just in time to get the chocolate (meringue, as pictured) and the blackberry, and both were excellent.
