Year after year, U.S. National Science Foundation recognizes the incredible ideas + talent of our early career faculty members. 5 more have received sought-after CAREER awards for exciting work in the brain, engineering ed, thermal batteries, AI & analog integrated circuit design. b.gatech.edu/3TAgijD

Group picnic in the North Georgia mountains, at a vineyard owned by our very own Georgia Tech alumni! Thank you to the #Vogel group and #Filler lab for organizing this getaway for our groups on the 2nd floor of @IEN_GATech! #WaterEnergyResearchLab #Summer

Our latest publication - a direct comparison between desalination and atmospheric water harvesting to address global water stress: doi.org/10.1039/D3EE02…. Super excited to have this published in #EES (RSC Energy Journals), which has been a dream journal since my grad school days! #WERL

Attended the Arab-American Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine as an early-career scientist working on decarbonization! It was surreal to be back in #Qatar and visit my alma mater Texas A&M at Qatar (Qatar Foundation) as an expert from Georgia Tech ☺️ Thank you National Academies for this opportunity!

New paper from our group on #thermochemical #energystorage -- we developed salt mixtures with improved cycling performance to decarbonize heating in buildings: doi.org/10.1016/j.est.…. Thank you to U.S. National Science Foundation for supporting this work!

New paper alert in Desalination - we designed and modeled a #desalination system that can treat brines energy efficiently and at a low cost. Prototype testing is currently underway at #WERL this summer! Read more here: doi.org/10.1016/j.desa…

We use low cost salts like calcium chloride to store/release heat via thermochemical reactions for decarbonizing the buildings sector🔥 Thank you to U.S. National Science Foundation, DOE Office of Science, and Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for supporting our work!

The #WaterEnergyResearchLab enjoyed hosting members of the Georgia Tech ME advisory board for a lab tour and discussion with students on some of our projects (desalination, thermal energy storage, sustainable insulation).

Congrats to #WERL PhD student Erik Barbosa on winning a Spark Award for his work on thermal energy storage! Thank you to the Strategic Energy Institute at Georgia Tech for the recognition.

Attended our first Gordon Research Conferences on phase change -- I presented our work on #thermalenergystorage from 100-1000 Celsius, while my students Erik Barbosa and Walter Parker discussed thermochemical batteries and desalination. We squeezed in a hike between technical sessions for some☀️

Akanksha Menon (Akanksha Menon), assistant professor in the Woodruff School, was recently presented with the Early Career Researcher Award at the 10th Thermal and Fluids Engineering Conference organized by the American Society of Thermal and Fluids Engineers (ASTFE).
