Didn’t get sick of hearing from me at PrimateSocietyGB winter meeting and loved the vibe at ZSL? Well I’m advertising for 1-2 voluntary roles for my collaborative project with the primates at ZSL. Apply soon! PSGB Students zsl.org/support-us/vol…

Ecology is complicated. An ant from Mauritius has spread through Africa. In Kenya it disrupted a mutualism between native ants and acacia trees that led to increased herbivory by elephants and ultimately a shift in lion prey species from zebra to buffalo. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

A team of our charity’s expert keepers are patrolling the village today in order to locate and return the macaque that escaped yesterday. We are asking anyone who spots him to call 07933928377 or email [email protected].

Those who harumph at the journal Nature’s concern for political issues should recall that ‘twas ever thus. There was the absurd Nature Guide to Bioriches in the 1980s, and in the 1974 celebrations of the 21st anniversary of the 1953 DNA papers, this gem, which is not a joke.

New Paper! 🚨 Pleased to have this paper out from my Masters work. We incorporated Pleistocene fossil records of saiga antelope, alongside modern and historic data, into contemporary SDMs to better understand the species environment relationship. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jb…

New paper out! 🎉🎉🎉 We take a deep dive into the evolutionary history of giraffes. 🦒 There is a lot of discussion about if this is 1 species (as it is currently on the IUCN Red List) or actually more than 1. This is crucial to guide conservation. 🧵 authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S09…

Do you need to get DNA out of insect museum specimens where the preservation is suboptimal? There’s a terrific protocol from my daughter right here! journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…
