Do something amazing this year and become a CFR! Community First Responders are volunteers who are trained to attend certain emergency calls in their communities. They aim to get there in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives. Go to➡️becomeacfr.ie

Pneumonia is inflammation of the lungs, usually caused by a bacterial infection. Symptoms of pneumonia can start suddenly and you should call 999 or 112 and ask for an ambulance if you're having difficulty breathing, your lips or tongue are blue or you feel confused.

Injury units can help with many of the injuries people go to the ED for. For example, broken bones, dislocations, and burns. You can get treatment such as x-rays, plaster casts, and wound care in an injury unit. Many are open this weekend and you don't need an appointment.

Bank holiday weekends mean busier roads and we can all struggle with parking and traffic. Help us by being considerate when you park, especially on narrow streets or country lanes. Always make sure you're leaving enough room for emergency service vehicles to pass through. 🚑

In the car this weekend? 67 people have died on our roads already this year, so please slow down and stay safe this bank holiday weekend. Put your phone down, never ever drive under the influence and always make a plan for getting home.

Heading to a festival this weekend? If you're using drugs it's important to know the signs of an emergency in case something goes wrong. Never be afraid to get help if you or a friend become unwell after using. Go straight to the ED or call 999 if you suspect an overdose.

Our staff and services are busy this bank holiday weekend, working hard to care for all those who need it. Please only call an ambulance in a real emergency and if you need care, consider all your options including your local injury unit, out-of-hours GP and pharmacist.

Always call 999 or 112 if you suspect a drug overdose. Sharing any information you have about what drug was taken can be extremely helpful to our team, and ensures that the best care can be provided as quickly as possible. Look after yourself if using drugs this weekend.

Big thanks to Paramedic Tutor Tony Murray and Paramedic Fiona Lawless who attended Scoil Mhuire Greenhill careers expo on behalf of NAS last week. A great day out and brilliant to get the opportunity to talk to so many motivated young women!
