I was on the ground at the ICE raid in Newark. We are scrambling to connect legal services for folks. Faces and names have leaked online and *I am BEGGING you* DO NOT share the name of the business nor the pictures taken. People still work there. ICE said they’ll be back.

Entering Hour 4 of the only public hearing on the Senate’s ballot design bill, and the Judiciary Committee is still on nominees. They’re definitely not going to do that thing where they hold the most important bill until the very end and then get annoyed we’re still here, right?

TY Mayor Ravinder S. Bhalla for telling the Senate Judiciary Comm that making us wait 4-6 hours to testify on ballot design and dropping 11th-hr amendments was not just rude, but undemocratic. Maybe it was the Milano cookies I had for lunch from the vending machines, but I was moved.

The current bill language creates a disruptive new electioneering policy that is confusing to voters, poll workers, candidates and election protection efforts. We oppose S3850 in its current form.

ICE Director Caleb Vitello: “The location near an international airport streamlines logistics, and helps facilitate the timely processing of individuals in our custody as we pursue President Trump’s mandate….” We are not real humans to these people.

Hundreds were prepared to protest all night outside the facility where Ras J. Baraka was being held. Thankfully, he's going home for now, and so are we. But others in detention in NJ will never see their homes again. ICE showed us what it was today. Believe it.

The unintended MVC party switch is a known bug. It drives me crazy that every election, dozens of attorneys from NJOAG (paid for by our tax $) are on standby to represent election authorities in situations that effectively disenfranchise voters. Passing the NJVRA would fix this.

While NJ celebrated Pride and got out the vote this weekend, in CA, law enforcement fired tear gas at nonviolent protesters who'd showed up to do the hard, courageous work of not allowing us to sleepwalk into autocracy. Soon we'll have to decide if we're willing to do the same.

We alerted the Voter Protection Initiative about a voter whose party affiliation had been switched (w/out her knowledge) during an MVC renewal ahead of the 2024 primary. Now, MVC "computer mishaps" have affected 000s more voters. Why is the Div of Law so bafflingly anti-voter?
