I went to roll out my trash to the alley. This little bastard was lying in wait for me under the garbage can. Death by shovel. I wasn’t playing around with this snake nonsense after the day I’ve had.

Garlic Cheese Grits for my staff breakfast tomorrow morning. IYKYK. A lot more butter than is shown went in these grits.

These are my thoughts this morning.

Happy New Year! I am happy to see 2023 end - it was tough. I’m feeling better even though it’s only Jan. 2. I hope you all have many blessings and joy in 2024.

I had no idea how many varieties of salt existed until today.

It’s a beautiful day here in Dallas. Getting the backyard cleaned up after all the hideous weather lately. Pool will be swim ready in a few days. The water isn’t that cold, either.

Now this is more like it! Burgers on the grill, a little Marshall Tucker Band playing- all is nice on the patio this fine evening.

It’s been this kind of day.

Tomorrow is my youngest daughter’s 21st birthday. She said she wanted fried chicken for her birthday. “Operation Chicken Fry” is underway. My first job at 13 was cutting up chickens to fry in a Louisiana gas station/convenience store. I learned at an early age how to do this.

The things you see in Dallas rush hour traffic. I tried so hard to get a look at this guy, but his TRUCK was too big for me to get a glimpse of him.

Unbelievable. I’m like a kid in a candy store at the NRA Convention.

Galveston is as fun as ever.

Anyone who thinks a fresh tomato, basil, and provolone grilled sandwich isn’t delicious - y’all just don’t know what good is on a hot summer night.

After a tough ending to a 22 1/2 year marriage nine months ago, this is probably the most important thing I’ve learned in the past nine months. ⬇️⬇️

Today’s heroes are those linemen restoring power to our friends and family in and around Houston. If only I could expedite the process I’d feel better. I know it’s so hot.

Not sure if West Texas will be the same after our visit.
