Erasing references to the transgender community is bigoted, despicable, and dangerous.   Trans rights are human rights.   Transgender individuals are people.   In New York, we will always honor transgender individuals' existence and fight for their rights. abcnews.go.com/US/transgender…

For too long we have been trending to this very moment, when our democracy and basic freedoms are under assault. And now, in this moment, it is up to WE, the people, to do something about it. #HandsOff #50501Movement

Today is a watershed moment in the efforts to expand the personal liberty of New Yorkers. I am so grateful to Assemblymember Assemblywoman Amy Paulin Paulin and Compassion & Choices for their work to get the Medical Aid in Dying Act passed in the Assembly. Read my full statement.

Yesterday, the Assembly passed the Medical Aid in Dying Act, which allows terminally ill patients to request medication to peacefully end their suffering (A.136). New Yorkers facing unbearable pain deserve compassion, care, and the right to choose a dignified death.

We must pass my bill A.8635 to ensure formerly incarcerated women who were sexually assaulted in New York’s prison system and who filed #AdultSurvivorsAct claims can get their day in court. Justice has been delayed long enough.

I hardly post on this platform, but this is a new level of unconscionable awful. Last year in NY alone, on ONE day, 1700 DV victims/survivors needs went unmet - do you have any idea how much worse that can be with this attitude?! Sickening.
