If you have pre-registered for the 2025 Gastruloid Meeting, you will soon receive an e-mail asking you to finalize your registration (deadline 12th Jan 2025). We are expecting almost 100 attendees and will have the pleasure to have Dr Naomi Moris and David Turner as invited speakers!

For some time now we’ve been aware that Chiron #gastruloids, while representing well axial elongation, exhibit a shortage of anterior fates. Here biorxiv.org/content/10.110… led by André Dias we uncover the reason

🚨 New preprint alert! In the latest work from our lab, André Dias and colleagues dissected the role of a Wnt/Nodal antagonistic signalling module in patterning the emerging mammalian body plan, using #gastruloids as a model. Cool work!

1/2 Early development requires fit cells. Following @MTorrescnic & T. Rodriguez, led by Joshua Frenster we've developed a #gastruloid model #CellCompetition biorxiv.org/content/10.110… that recapitulate cell competition as in the embryo & open up experimental possibilities

🚨 A new preprint from our lab is out now! In this study, Joshua Frenster and colleagues show that #gastruloids are a powerful and versatile tool to study the cellular and molecular bases of mammalian cell competition at the time of gastrulation. Nice work! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Amidst these troubling times, I have some positive personal news to share: I will be joining IMBA imbavienna.bsky.social as a new group leader this fall! 🎉 I am excited for fun projects, surprising discoveries, and great discussions within the fantastic science community Vienna BioCenter.

Today we kicked off the first day of the 2025 Gastruloid Meeting in Barcelona with a talk by our invited speaker David Turner. Thanks to all the presenters and almost 100 attendees for great discussions! Looking forward to what comes tomorrow 🙌

The 2025 Gastruloid Meeting in Barcelona has already come to an end, with fascinating closing remarks by Dr Naomi Moris. Many thanks to all of you for joining us and sharing your research, it was a wonderful gathering!

We’re looking for PhD students to join the lab! 🧫🧑‍🔬 Curious about how metabolic processes shape patterning and morphogenesis? Enthusiastic about stem cell models for human development? - Then apply through the VBC PhD program! training.vbc.ac.at/phd-program/ ‼️Deadline: April 15‼️
