In collaboration with YouthMappers, students mapped flood prone areas in Malawi contributing to disaster risk management project by Malawi Red Cross Society.Thanks to The Open Mapping Hub-Eastern & Southern Africa Hub the mapathon conducted also introduced new youthmappers members to OSM.

Happy to share that NKHUNI youthmappers chapter (Nkhoma University) Youth Mappers was launched on 8 March, thanks to The Open Mapping Hub-Eastern & Southern Africa Hub grant that helped us to train students and introduce them to OSM and YouthMappers, Kudos to Nkhoma University for this great initiative #Spatial People Network #ImpactGrant

The team today Malawi Red Cross Society , NKHOMA UNIVERSITY (NKHUNI) and OpenStreetMap Malawi, gathered to explore mapping of flood water associated with major flooding events in the past 5 years. After remotely mapping Nsanje and Chikwawa. We've gone further, identifying structures affected by past floods. Now, we're diving into the flood management narrative, reflecting on lessons learned. The Dissemination Workshop took place today in Blantyre for the flood mapping project of the most affected Districts in Malawi for early recovery of communities. A study that was done by OSM-Malawi funded by The Open Mapping Hub-Eastern & Southern Africa Hub in partnership with RedCross Society.
