This is laughable. There has been *one* violent crime reported in Georgetown since January. Crime here is a problem, but no one has convincingly explained why this 30-day “solution” is anything more than political theater.

☠️ Pulling Pfizer would remove the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for all children from the US market. 🦠 The Moderna is approved only for children with one or more health conditions. 🤢 Novavax is cleared only for use in children ages 12 years and older.

I’m very confused by mainstream media telling Americans for the past two days that what Donald Trump is doing in DC is acceptable to curb crime, instead of calling out the real reason for the crackdown: authoritarian control. We are frogs in boiling water.

I say this without snark: I’d love to hear someone explain with a straight face why this charge—which under the Sentencing Guidelines results in years in prison—is justified, while the people who assaulted cops with flagpoles on Jan 6 deserved full, unconditional pardons.

This is federal overreach and not making DC safer. It’s about power. It’s about instilling fear in cities. Our Ward 1 community is standing together & looking out for one another. The very heart & soul of our great city is at stake.

BREAKING: The federal government is expected to clear encampments across the city tonight, starting at 6 p.m., according to an email from the city’s Interagency Council on Homelessness. This could impact people on federal and local land, and living outside but not in encampments.

Washington, DC right now. This is fascism. Eviction of 62 homeless encampments start tonight. If you don’t live in DC I need you to call your congresspeople and tell them to stop this racist, authotarian power grab.

If you needed more proof that the DC police takeover is theater, here it is: *20 cops* showed up at the sandwich thrower’s home to rearrest him—after he’d already appeared in court. 20 cops. Not sure how anyone who thinks murder is a problem in DC can defend this spectacle.

DC, we shouldn’t be dealing with this. Since we don’t have a choice, know your rights. ✅You can film an arrest in public as long as you don’t interfere. ✅If LE asks you to step back, film yourself complying. ✅Use a passcode & don’t provide it w/o a warrant.

Why can they find places to sleep for national guard troops coming from other states to occupy DC, but not for homeless ppl. In Jan 2020, they used hotels for the guard. Will they do the same this time? If so, why is there $ for the army to stay in hotels but not homeless ppl?

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick (@reichlinmelnick) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It’s hard to express enough to people who don’t live in DC just how much nothing is actually going on that would justify anything like this. The Guard already deployed are largely sitting around looking extremely bored (and somewhat miserable because of the heat and humidity).

Ask yourself why the official Russian government news outlet, directly under the operational control of the Kremlin would inject themselves into the U.S. culture war to stir things up.🤔

For the daily cost of deploying the DC Guard, $420,000, 9 folks could move from homelessness to housing. We have the money to solve homelessness, but we don't have the political will.

Per Bondi, there have been 68 illegal guns seized since Trump took over MPD and flooded the city with federal law enforcement officers. That’s…almost normal? From 6/16-6/22, MPD alone got 50. From 7/21-7/27, it was 60. From 6/30-7/6, it was 70 guns.
