To Elie's credit, he wrote to Ilya to apologize and to say that he'd confused him with Shapiro. (I don't think Shapiro is actually that anti-immigration either, and nor is most of Reason, but still, credit where due.)

When Chicago builds affordable housing, a developer gets 11 points for BIPOC involvement, 7 points for women, 7 points for accessibility, and 3 points for containing costs. They ended up with a program where each unit cost up to $1.1 million.

Was told once by a dog trainer that you want to spend most of your time on tasks where the dog gets it right in 60-80% of trials. Was struck by how close that is to old-style grading curves for humans where C (70-79%) is in the middle.

I try to be relentlessly reasonable with people but I could probably do with internalizing this wisdom a bit more so that I don't waste my time
